Seven Ottawa firms capture nine awards from Canadian Home Builders Association

Once again, Ottawa developers and design firms have been honoured for their work in Canada’s residential and construction industry.

The Canadian Home Builders Association (CHBA) awards were held Friday in Victoria, B.C.

The awards represent Canada’s construction and residential industry and recognize companies working at a local, provincial and national level.

The nominations came out early last month and included 12 Ottawa nominees. Out of the 12, seven of them have won, with two of the companies taking home awards in two categories.

Gordon Weima Design Builder won the award for Home Renovations for a whole house from $250 to $500,000 as well as The New Home Award for Detached Home between 2,500 to 3,500 square feet. The company has been active in Ottawa for more than 35 years. They are located on 9 Goodwood Dr.

Mizrahi Developments won two marketing awards for their Brochure/kit and Sales Office. The company, located on 1451 Wellington St., is well known for its commercial and residential work, but also for its detail in architecture.

ARTium Design received a Home Renovations award for their renovations in bathrooms. The company has been in the business for almost two decades. It is located at 2953 Carp. Rd. and have 20 years of experience in Ottawa.

Just Basements, located at 2853 Carp Rd., took home an award for the Home Renovation category for their work with renovating basements. This company strictly sticks to renovating basements and transforming them into a whole new living space. It has been working since 1999.

Amsted Design-Build won the award for Home Renovation- a whole house under $150,000. The designers and builders encourage the customer to be actively involved throughout the process of renovating and are open to renovating select rooms or the entire house. They work on renovations and custom homes and call themselves a “one stop-shop” choice. They are located at 7725 Flewellyn Rd. and have over 25 years of experience.

Revelstoke Developments Corp. won its award in the Home Renovation category for a whole house between $150,000 to 250,000. It is a full-service-design-build company and has been working on projects since 1990. The firm can be found on 209 Pretoria Ave. and has been around since 1990.

Minto Communities Inc. took home the New Home Award for a one-storey bungalow. Minto Communities have been a premier Ottawa home builder with more than 60 years’ experience in the city. As the years have gone by, they’ve changed their home designs to match current styles and needs.
