Edmonton-based projects among CHBA National Awards for Housing Excellence finalists
The Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) has announced its finalists for the 2019 CHBA National Awards for Housing Excellence, recognizing new home, home renovation, community development and marketing projects from across the country.
A total of 17 Edmonton-based projects received finalist recognition. Vicky’s Homes led the way among local contenders with five finalist nods, including detached homes over 3,000 square feet for its Vieno model, interior decorating for its Viena model, as well as three marketing nominations.
“It is an honour to be considered by the CHBA across so many categories,” said Vicky Kujundzic, CEO of Vicky’s Homes. “Whether we are building a family’s first home or a million dollar stunner, our commitment to bringing together superior functionality, meticulous craftsmanship and aesthetic excellence is unwavering.”
Other notable Edmonton-based finalists include Averton, recognized for three attached home projects, while Brookfield Residential received honours in three marketing categories. White Eagle Homes Ltd. was also named a finalist in two detached home categories.
Nearly 200 judges narrowed down the field of more than 700 submissions from CHBA members. A select panel of judges convened in Ottawa to review finalists and select the winning entries.
“Our categories reflect the incredible housing diversity in Canada: low-rise houses, high-rise apartments, and homes built for ownership or rental purposes,” said CHBA CEO Kevin Lee. “This year the competition increased its focus on the context of the project — who was the home or community built for? Why was the home renovated? So our judges really had to consider how well the project’s desired outcomes were met. The finalists this year truly represent the best in Canada.”
The CHBA National Awards for Housing Excellence will be presented at the CHBA’s 76th National Conference on May 10 in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
